The sequel to one of the best films of the 90s promises ‘one of the most incredible action scenes of all time’

Are we going to see the return of disaster cinema, which was all the rage in the late 90s, with feature films like Independence Day, Armageddon or Vulcan? Twenty-eight years after the release of the first opus, Twisters will definitely try to reconnect that spirit and capture the minds of audiences around the world.

We don’t know yet if there will be a flying cow from Ian de Bont’s film, or if there will be any mention of the characters played by Helen Hunt and the late Bill Paxton (here, we’re betting that one of the new characters will be related to them). But Lee Isaac Chung’s ( The Tower ) opus will be able to count on some rising stars: Anthony Ramos, Daisy Edgar-Jones, future Superman David Korenswet and even Glenn Powell.

Increasingly hyped after the worldwide success of Top Gun Maverick, the latter also promised that Twisters “One of the most incredible action scenes of all time” in the video taken by Fandango for the opening of pre-sales in the United States. Unsurprisingly, the actor is clearly referring to the tornado sequence that will be the highlight of this summer’s show.

“We filmed in December with a rain car”He said of this valor in which “everything happens at once”. “One of the coldest nights of my life, throwing myself over a swimming pool with a cable. I think it was the most physical thing I’ve ever done.”

“Tornadoes are not gentle. You have to put your body in order to sell the experience.”

“We’re talking about people being sucked into a tornado. But you’re also rehearsing what the debris looks like. So you’re watching real stunt people being sucked into the sky, you’re seeing tractors go by. You’re jumping into a swimming pool where you’re being dragged … it’s a completely physical experience , because there’s nothing delicate about the investment you have to have as an actor.”

“It can’t be soft. Tornadoes are not soft. You have to put your body in order to sell that experience.” For once, and even if it’s a promotion, we can say that Glenn Powell does it well and we can’t wait to evaluate the result on paper and chase Tornado again, from July 17th in French cinemas.
