Jensen Ackles’ new project may surprise his fans. After the fantasy (supernatural) and superhero drama The Boys, the American actor will star in a detective series called Countdown.
The man who many want to see as the new interpreter of Batman will provide his qualities to Mark Meachum, a Los Angeles police officer who is recruited by a group of agents responsible for investigating the most difficult cases. Will the new recruits of this elite unit be able to put their egos aside to work together to solve this investigation?
An experienced screenwriter is at the head of the series
The thirteen-episode season was ordered by Prime Video as part of a collaboration contract signed by the American actor (through his production company Chaos Machine) with the streaming platform. Jensen Ackles previously collaborated with Amazon through the TV series The Boys, in which he appeared, and its spin-off generator V.
Countdown is a new series from screenwriter Derek Haas, best known as the co-creator of Chicago Fire and responsible for developing spin-offs Chicago PD, Chicago Med and Chicago Justice. The latter also wrote the screenplays for 2 Fast 2 Furious and the action film Wanted with Angelina Jolie.
The Countdown series could begin filming this year, with a view to launching exclusively on Prime Video in 2025.
