Franca beats Flamengo and is one win away from a third NBB title

Rubro-Negro must win two matches in Rio de Janeiro to win the title

Franca beat Flamengo 81 to 73, this Saturday (8), at the Ginásio Pedrocão, in Franca (SP), and was one victory away from Novo Basquete Brasil’s (NBB) third consecutive championship. In a very balanced match, the home team had the upper hand in the last quarter and will return to Rio de Janeiro in search of triumph away from home.

Franca enters the final quarter with a lead of only three points, and Flamengo does not let go of Sao Paulo’s lead in the standings. In a final stretch with many referee stops to review replays, complaints and technical fouls, the home team finally opened a two-possession gap and confirmed a very important victory.

As expected, Franca’s top scorer was Lucas Dias, with 18 points. Also worth mentioning is Wesley, author of 16 goals, including eight in the last quarter, in which he had 100% shooting success. For the Rossoneri, Gabriel Jaú leads with 19 points.

Franca won game 1 of the final at Maracanãzinho 69 to 56, the game with the fewest points in history by decision of the NBB. In the second duel, Flamengo turns the situation around and wins away from home, this time 76 to 68.

The teams will face each other again this Thursday (13th), at 5.10pm (Brasilia time), at the Maracanãzinho, in Rio de Janeiro. If necessary, the fifth and final match will also be led by Flamengo.
