Fans have been waiting almost two years for the return of Dragon House. Airing in the summer of 2022, the first season of Game of Thrones was a huge success with viewers and most notably won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series (an award the main series has never won).
A two-year wait to ensure the quality of the program
However, this two-year delay is not the result of a writers’ and actors’ strike (filming was not affected), but the result of long preparations to maintain the quality of the program. Remember that Dragon House was created by George RR Martin, author of the Game of Thrones novels.
But that wait will be amply rewarded with the XXL length of the series’ episodes. Thus, the new streaming platform has revealed information regarding the first four episodes of Season 2. Chances are, the first three episodes will exceed sixty minutes, and the fourth episode won’t be missed at “only” 54 minutes long.
Longer episodes…but fewer
Therefore, the episodes of the second season will be longer than the first. In comparison, the first episode of the series was 63 minutes long, and among the ten episodes offered in the first season, barely three of them lasted more than an hour. Among the bad news, we should note that the second season will only offer eight episodes.
House of the Dragon takes place over a century ago on Game of Thrones. The death of King Viserys Targaryen plunges his eldest daughter Rhaenyra and his son Aegon (born from his second marriage) into a bloody war for the throne. Season 1 ended with a spectacular dragon battle that ended with the death of Prince Lucerne Targaryen.
House of the Dragon Season 2 episodes can be seen every Monday starting June 17 exclusively on the new Max streaming platform.
