Assassin’s Creed Shadows will have a dynamic climate and big differences between the heroes

The new gameplay trailer showed off the gameplay differences between Yasuke and Naoe and shows how different it will be to control a ninja or a samurai

The expected Assassin’s Creed Shadows I got an extended trailer during the Ubisoft Forward this Monday (10), which shows how the protagonist duo complement each other by bringing styles of game very different. From Yasuke’s brutal samurai to Naoe’s ninja stealth, the game looks to be everything fans expected to see from a title set in feudal Japan.

Actually not just the fans, as the team responsible for the game took advantage of the presentation to reveal how much they wanted to make a game using this theme. According to the project director, Charles Benoit, it is a dream come true.

And the demonstration of Shadows showed how the gameplay of the new Assassin’s Creed it will be different depending on the character in question. On Yasuke’s side, the black samurai will focus much more on hand-to-hand combat, including not only katana duels, but also much more brutal moments.

Since the character is considerably larger than the Japanese around him, he becomes a true machine of feudal destruction. In addition to the signature Japanese sword, he also carries other types of weapons, including a type of mace that can be used to sweep the stage, push back nearby enemies, and destroy opponents’ armor.

Ninja is the guy from Assassin’s Creed

With Naoe, we have a more classic experience in the universe of Assassin’s Creed. As a ninja, the girl will use and abuse her stealth abilities, with many stealth elements to explore.

In the demonstration presented, she and Yasuke discuss plans to eliminate Lord Hayashi, a corrupt feudal lord. While the samurai is restrained by the guards, the player takes control of the shinobi to carry out the job without being seen.

To do this he has a real ninja arsenal that can be used both to eliminate enemies from a distance and to quickly move away from the sight of enemies. You can use kunai, small throwing knives, to eliminate opponents without exposing yourself, or use the wakizashi, the slightly shorter sword used by ninjas.

The highlight here are two specific pieces of equipment. The first of these is the hidden blade, a trademark of the franchise which returns in style. After being excluded Assassin’s Creed Valhallawe saw the weapon used again Mirage and now, inside Shadows as a Naoe exclusive.

The shinobi also uses a kusarigama, a type of small scythe with a chain that can be used to neutralize enemies from a distance, trap targets, or even as a sort of hook to quickly interact with the scene. In the trailer, Naoe appears using the gun to climb onto the roof of a house when he notices a guard approaching.

The dynamic climate and its possibilities

Another novelty presented during Ubisoft Forward is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows there will be a dynamic seasonal system. According to director Charles Benoit, the player will feel the passage of time and this will affect how he interacts with the environment.

According to him, during the winter, the lakes will be frozen and the characters will not be able to swim or access underwater areas. Instead, they will be able to slide on the ice and reach previously inaccessible places.

Likewise, rainy summer weather forms pools of water that can be used to attract soldiers’ attention, creating new options for approach.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows arrives on consoles and PC on November 15th. Anyone with a Ubisoft subscription will have three days early access to the game.
