A first for Kristen Stewart! He will be the hero of the series adapted from a true story

In her twenty-year career, Kristen Stewart has taken many risks and played a variety of characters, from a vampire to Snow White to Princess Diana. For her very first series, titled The Challenger, she will play astronaut Sally Ride, the first American woman to go into space.

In 1978, the physicist was selected for the 8th group of NASA astronauts. A historic group in many ways, as it is the first selection to include women, black and Asian astronauts, as well as married couples.

According to DeadlineThe Challenger series is adapted from the book new boys Written by Meredith E. by Bugby and produced in part by Steven Spielberg’s company Amblin and actress Kyra Sedgwick. The project is intended for the Amazon Prime Video platform.

Sally Reed, American hero

Five years after her selection, Sally Ride flew into space aboard the space shuttle Challenger. Three years later, the shuttle’s crash 73 seconds after liftoff opened the Rogers Commission, which was created specifically to investigate the disaster. Sally Reed is the only woman involved in the investigation. It is partly to his credit that the problem becomes apparent after some time.

Sally Reed’s private life came to light after her death from cancer in 2012. He was 61 years old. Her obituary states that she was in a 27-year relationship with author and former tennis player Tam O’Shaughnessy. The role comes as no surprise to Kristen Stewart, a major LGBT+ figure in the film industry.

The 2015 César-winning actor stars in Love Lies Bleeding, Rose Glass, an explosive thriller about a muscular romance between a bodybuilder and a gym employee, from June 12.
