The artist was found fallen by an employee of the telephone company he was installing in the street
Singer Nahim Jorge Elias Júnior, also known simply as Nahim, was found dead this Thursday at the age of 71 (13), in his home in Taboão da Serra, Greater São Paulo. The case will be preliminarily registered as a suspicious death.
According to initial information, Nahim moved there recently, after divorcing Andreia Andrade. Neighbors told SBT that the artist was known in the neighborhood and much loved by residents.
A telephone company employee was making an installation on the singer’s street and reportedly saw his body. He called the military police, who intervened in the accident, went to the scene and confirmed Nahim’s death. The suspicion is that he fell down the stairs.
Nahim’s career
Born in Miguelópolis, Nahim started playing at the age of 10, when he formed his first musical group, called “New Edition”. Even in his youth he also tried his hand at motorcycle racing. During a race at Interlagos he was involved in a serious accident and suffered a head injury.
After recovering, he decided to return to the music business and was discovered by producer Mister Sam, in 1980, who promoted the artist under the code name “Baby Face”, recording two singles in English. The following year he began his national career with his first album in Portuguese. In total, more than 14 albums and 86 songs have been released.
Nahim also attended the performances in the auditorium and was the big winner of the “What is the Music?” competition. (1982), from the Silvio Santos Program. Furthermore, he gained prominence with his hits “Cala Essa Boca”, “Dá Coração”, “Coração de Melão” and “Taka Taka”.
Throughout his career, Nahim has also tried his hand at several television programs and has created some reality shows, such as “Cante se Puder” (2012), “O Aprendiz” (2014), “A Fazenda 9″ (2017) and Power Couple Brazil” (2022).
In April 2019, the singer was arrested for failing to comply with a protection order against his ex-wife because she was visiting her dogs. The following year he ran for city councilor in São Paulo, but was not elected.
