Hugh Jackman’s favorite scene
But long before he helped millions of viewers dream, where did he go to forge his own passion for cinema? What films got his heart racing and made him want to do this job?
While he was at our microphone in 2012 to discuss his latest feature film – the exciting family sci-fi film Real Steel – Hugh Jackman agreed to describe what he considered his favorite scene:
“One of my favorite movies is Let the Show Begin!”he told us, referring to the 1979 Bob Fosse-produced musical comedy in which a very busy artist juggles rehearsals for his next Broadway ballet, filming his new movie and his family life.
“I love this scene.”
“There’s a great scene in the movie where the main character is sitting on the sofa and his girlfriend, or rather his mistress, with her daughter, does a little dance number for him and sings ‘Everything Old Is New Again’. They do this dance number in his apartment and I love that scene. .”
Led by two actresses, Anne Reinking and Erzebeth Fold, who perfectly execute the rich and complex choreography accompanied by Roy Scheider’s palpable emotion, the sequence is truly impressive and truly delightful.
