The defender no longer wears the Timão shirt and has offers from Ferencvaros, from Hungary, and from Tijuana, from Mexico
Defender Raul Gustavo no longer plays for Corinthians. The player agreed, this Thursday (13), to terminate his contract with Timão, he has already said goodbye to his teammates at CT Joaquim Grava and will have a new club. However, the fate of the defender is still unknown, as two teams are fighting for the athlete.
Raúl Gustavo had an agreement with Ferencvaros, of Hungary, but Tijuana, of Mexico, intervened in the dispute. Despite the good negotiations with the Europeans, the conditions offered by the Mexican club are more encouraging for the 25-year-old defender. Therefore, the player still has to decide where to take his career.
The defender’s contract with Corinthians is valid until the end of the year. For the release, the club will receive a small financial compensation, the amounts of which remain confidential. The player lost space to Timão and was not even called up for the matches.
Furthermore, the last image of Raul Gustavo with the black and white shirt will be negative. After all, his last match dates back to April 23, against Argentinos Juniors, in the Copa Sudamericana, when he ended up being sent off for pushing the linesman. So he leaves Parque São Jorge without missing it.
Raised in Timão’s youth ranks, Raul Gustavo leaves the club with 54 games played and six goals scored. He was fighting for position together with Félix Torres, Gustavo Henrique, Cacá, Caetano and João Pedro Tchoca. However, he decided to leave for more opportunities and was also considering a change of scenery.
