The event also offers a series of conferences with leading figures from the nautical world
The Lars Grael Sailing School opened its doors for the fourth edition of VelaShow 2024 this Friday (14). Located in Av. Santos Dumont, Pequeá, the event will last three days, celebrating the sport of sailing with a diverse program.
The organizers Edilberto Almeida and Paulo Almeida kicked off the opening ceremony, which was attended by several authorities, including the mayor Toninho Colucci, the frigate captain Silvio da Costa Proença, the vice mayor João Pedro Reale Colucci, the municipal secretaries and advisor Dr. Thiago. Also present was José Roberto de Jesus, known as Beto de Mazinho, sailor from Ilhabela and former secretary of Sports and Leisure.
With the support of the municipality of Ilhabela, VelaShow 2024 brings together more than 40 exhibitors from the sailing, nautical, tourism and services sectors. “Ilhabela is known for its sailing tradition and hosting VelaShow reinforces our title as the National Capital of this sport,” underlined Mayor Toninho Colucci during his speech.
Harry Finger, Secretary for Economic Development and Tourism of Ilhabela, highlighted the economic importance of the event: “VelaShow strengthens the local economy and promotes Ilhabela as one of the country’s leading nautical destinations, attracting investors and tourists.”
The event also offers a series of conferences with prominent figures from the nautical world, such as the instructor Tio Spinelli, the navigator Aleixo Belov and the sailor Beto Pandiani. “Our goal is to promote the growth of recreational boating with innovation, networking and business opportunities that influence the ocean sailing scenario in Brazil,” explained Edilberto Almeida, commercial director of VelaShow.
One of the main attractions of this edition is the partnership with the second stage of the Mitsubishi Cup – Ocean Sailing Circuit. The Mitsubishi-VelaShow regatta will take place on Saturday (15th), with prizes for several classes, including ORC, BRA-RGS, Classics, C30, HPE25 and RGS Cruiser. Mitsubishi Cup participants have free entry to the event.

With an expected audience of approximately 1,200 people per day, VelaShow 2024 consolidates Ilhabela as the leading sailing destination in Brazil, as well as boosting the local economy and nautical tourism in the region.
