After a month of waiting and torture for Bridgerton fans, Netflix has released the second part of season 3, which focuses on Penelope and Colin’s love story, as well as the identity of Lady Whistledown.
If all’s well that ends well for our beloved couple, all’s well for the rest of the family. As Francesca prepares to leave the family cocoon to pursue a thrilling adventure in Scotland, Kate and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) also have plans.
The star couple of the second season, in fact, decided to make their way to India, where they hope to welcome their first child. And they have a long way to go. Is this a way for them to say goodbye to the series? We asked Simone Ashley, who was visiting the Monte Carlo Television Festival, where she received an honorary nymph.
It’s not over for Katie!
It seems that Simone Ashley is not ready to say goodbye to her character and the series that brought her to the world, as the actress revealed that she would like to return to Bridgerton in the sequel. So she wouldn’t be taking the same route as her co-star Phoebe Dinevor (Daphne), who dropped out of her contract at the end of Season 2 to make way for the rest of the cast.
“No, it’s not over for them. I hope and imagine that they will return. We started developing ideas on this topic. As soon as it is confirmed, I will be the first to let the fans know.”
What can we expect from Bridgerton season 4?
In other good news, Netflix has already renewed Bridgerton for a 4th season. While we don’t yet know who will be at the center of these next episodes, many hints suggest that the focus will be on Benedict (Luke Thompson). In the Julia Quinn books on which the series is based, Volume 3 is dedicated to her. But the writers chose to take liberties and switch with Colin (Luke Newton).
Unlike previous seasons, the action may take place elsewhere than in English high society. Francesca and Eloise chose to leave London to settle in Scotland. And the end of season 3 assures us that we are not done hearing the love stories of our dear pianist. The latter did cross over with Michaela Sterling, a character fans are familiar with…almost.
In Julia Quinn’s books, Francesca (Hannah Dodd) does fall under the spell of Michael Sterling. Thus, the latter becomes a woman in the Netflix series, a way for the writers to integrate a new queer storyline.
Although Bridgerton fans have waited two years to find out about this Season 3, they’ll have to wait a little longer before meeting their favorite characters…
