Dudu will stay at Palmeiras “for the fans”, says the former Mancha Verde president

In Domingol com Benja, Paulo Serdan explained in detail his conversation with the striker and said that he would present himself as a “rogue” if he signed with Cruzeiro

The Palmeiras fans made the striker Dudu reconsider the proposal of Cruzeiro, who had surprised him by announcing the idol of Alviverde last Saturday, 16th. In an interview this Sunday 16th, the former president of Mancha Verde Paulo Serdan assured that Dudu will remain at Palmeiras.

To the Domingol with BenjaSerdan revealed that the decision to stay at Palmeiras was communicated by Dudu himself: “I’m not going, I’m staying for the fans. I exchanged ideas with him, I’m staying for the fans”, said the player.

In the programme, the organized fan argued that Dudu would have “much more to lose than gain” by moving to Raposa. Serdan himself would have tried to dissuade the attacker from leaving Palmeiras.

“I told him: Dudu, you will leave as a mercenary, you will leave as a scoundrel”, revealed Serdan who, however, recognized that the decision is up to the player: “It’s the boy’s life. (…) Who knows what it’s his purpose in life, we were there to show the side of the Palmeiras fans.”

Surprised announcement

The world of football caught fire last Saturday afternoon, after Cruzeiro announced the signing of Dudu on its social networks. The player was expected this week in Belo Horizonte (MG), to undergo medical examinations and sign the final terms of the contract.

Paulo Serdan, honorary president of Mancha Verde, went live on Instagram and stated that he heard from the player that he does not want to leave the club that has been an idol since 2015. According to the attacker’s version, the Alviverde team is the one who would like to make a deal with Cruzeiro.

Dudu has not played for Palmeiras since August last year, when he suffered a knee ligament injury and had to undergo surgery. Last Thursday he was mentioned for the first time by Abel Ferreira, but he did not come off the bench in the win against Vasco. But even so, his name was shouted by the fans and he was moved.

In an interview with Itatiaia radio, Alexandre Mattos, Cruzeiro’s chief executive, said that it was Dudu who approached the club 20 days ago and showed interest in a change of scenery. The director remains confident in the agreement and said he has heard from Leila Pereira that he will not give up on the agreement. Palmeiras has already sent the acceptance of the deal.

Journalist Mauro Beting declared during the Apito Final broadcast, on Rádio Bandeirantes, that Dudu’s problem at Palmeiras is with Abel Ferreira. The 32-year-old striker no longer wants to work with the Portuguese coach.
