Denis Villeneuve took a considerable risk in deciding divide the novel dune in two films . While the source material was certainly long enough for two films and likely required it to cover everything important in the tome, there was no guarantee that there would actually be a second film. At least not before seeing the first movie. Now the second movie is coming and while Duna: part 2 now it will take longer than expected, it is clearly on its way.
Apparently, filming has already started Dune: second partalthough the film’s release date has been postponed from October to November 2023. While most of the release date delays we’ve seen in recent years are due to the pandemic and the residual response to it, this delay, by just one month , it’s probably done strictly for box office reasons, because the pre-Thanksgiving release will likely help the box office of Dune: second part compared to a weekend in October.
Term reports that some “pre-shootings” have started in Altivole, Italy, and will last a few days. Apparently, filming takes place in Tomb of Brion , a burial place with gardens and water features designed by the architect Carlo Scarpa in the late 1960s. The place could easily replace a number of places in Frank Herbert’s science fiction world. Standard production with the cast will begin in Hungary on July 21, where principal shooting of the original film took place.
It’s great to see the production move forward, even if it meant that of a second part it’s a month longer than we initially thought. Honestly, considering all the obstacles filmmaking still faces, it’s pretty impressive that the dune the sequel is happening so fast. It’s happening at the same speed we used to see sequels to blockbusters, maybe nature really heals.
In addition to seeing the return of fan favorite characters from the first film, I assume survived the first dune the sequel will introduce more fantastic characters and only make the star-studded cast more impressive. Christopher Walken is on board plays Emperor Shaddam IV. Florence Pugh will play Princess Irulan , who will put it back together with Timothée Chalamet. Austin Butler, currently seen on screen as Baz Luhrmann Elvisis on board to play Feyd-Rautha, the role he made famous Sting in David Lynch’s ill-fated adaptation and proof that the Butler star is clearly on the move. The launch Dune: second part it will be just amazing.
Dune: second part It may take over a year, but it’s progressing. Of course, the first movie was worth the wait, so fans will likely wait how long it will take for this sequel to complete the story of Dunes.
