‘House of Dragon’ is a series based on George RR Martin’s ‘Blood and Fire’ and now its second season has finally hit the screens on July 16. While you might think the chapters show all the characters from the original Targaryen story, it turns out there’s one missing that could completely change the narrative of the next few episodes, and we explain.
Maelor Targaryen, Aegon II’s son, who does not appear in “House of the Dragon 2”
This is Maelor Targaryen, the second son of Aegon II and his wife Helaena Targaryen. Born in 127 AD, Maelor had two older brothers, the twins Jaehaerys and Jaehaera. The lives of these three princes were marked by war, but the strange thing is that this young man is a key character in the struggle for the throne between Rhaenyra and Aegon II. However, in the HBO series, Maelor does not appear.
According to the events described in “Blood and Fire”, Maelor was chosen by his mother to be killed after two men known as Blood and Cheese asked Queen Helaena to choose one of her sons to die, but these criminals chose to take the life of Jaehaerys, who was Aegon II’s first heir.
With this, Maelor, only three years old, becomes the heir to the throne after his older brother’s death, but in the series it is stated that Jaehaerys and Jaehaera are the king’s only children, so Daemon ends up killing the only male heir of Aegon, which adds even more drama to the matter.

When Rhaenyra Targaryen arrives in King’s Landing, Lord Larys Strong takes him, his sister Jaehaera, and his father Aegon out of the city, and then Rickard Thorne is responsible for taking him to his grandfather Otto Hightower without attracting attention .
Along the way, a group of people discover that he is the prince because they find a dragon egg among his belongings, which causes them to be captured. Although Rickard Thorne fights to defend him, he unfortunately dies and is taken by a washer named Willow.
There are several theories about his death.
