Kaspersky warns that Brazil is the second most attacked country by “ScarletStealer” malware, used to steal digital cryptocurrency wallets
A Kaspersky announced this Monday (17) the discovery of new viruses to steal data and digital cryptocurrency wallets. The malware includes “ScarletStealer”, also known as “CryptoSwap”, which mainly targets China, Brazil, Turkey and the United States.

Brazil: 2nd most attacked country
The discovery is the result of research conducted by the Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT). Focusing on “ScarletStealer”, the cybersecurity company highlighted in a press release that Brazil is the second most attacked country by malwarewith 123 blocks detected in 2024, second only to China.
The malicious file aims to steal digital wallets. To do this, the program first searches your computer for files that indicate the existence of the safe and then downloads a second one. Software that accepts cryptocurrencies.

The laboratory also identified Acrid, which has a peculiarity: the program is made with a 32-bit architecture to access 64-bit space to pass security checks and reach more victims. This way, hackers can steal browser data, local cryptocurrency wallets, files, and installed app credentials.
Sys01, known as Album Stealer or S1deload Stealer, also steals data from your browser and has backdoor functions. It is infected with a malicious ZIP file disguised as adult content, available for download on one page Facebook.

How to protect yourself from malware
Kaspersky has also provided some tips to avoid malware infection. This is the case with using an antivirus program and installing periodic installations, as well as using a file VPN if you connect to a public Wi-Fi network, for example.
