While Night Agent with Gabriel Basso was the most-watched series on Netflix in 2023, Prime Video is looking to find its new hit with The 500, which is currently in development.
we learn through Deadline that Amazon MGM Studios has begun developing a series adapted from the novel 500From New York Times bestseller Matthew Quirk — already behind The Night Agent — whose Andrew Sodrosky ( Manhunt ) will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer.
A classic thriller
The series follows the journey of an ex-con who was kicked out of Harvard Law School to become a partner at the most powerful consulting firm in Washington. Quickly drawn into a seductive and dangerous web of power and corruption, he struggles to find a way out.
Published in 2014, 500 is Matthew Quirk’s debut novel, also the first in his Mike Ford series. David Wiley (Hunters creator) and Natalie Williams are also producing the series as part of their overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Although filming for its second season just wrapped, the spy thriller starring Gabriel Basso became the sixth most-watched series in the streamer’s history a month after its debut.
As he began his career as a journalist at the Atlantic, Matthew Quirk published Directive After 500 in 2014. He is also known for the John Hayes series as well as standalone novels such as The killer’s watch, red alert and danger within.
An experienced screenwriter behind the camera
In high demand these days, Andrew Sodroski recently sold a script to Netflix for an untitled thriller set in a law school. Previously, he was responsible for Mimi Cave’s thriller Holland, Michigan, starring Nicole Kidman, Gael Garcia Bernal and Matthew Macfadyen for Amazon MGM Studios, which has a pending release date.
Previously, Andrew Sodrosky wrote and executive produced two seasons of the reality anthology series Manhunt. The first season, Unabomber, earned a WGA Award nomination, and the second, Deadly Games, was the most-watched series on Netflix for several weeks, with nearly a billion minutes watched.
