The third season of “Bridgerton” left many open questions for fans. One of them is what will happen to Cressida Cowper, who appears to be facing an uncertain future after her plans fell apart in the second installment.
A curious fact is that the creators of the Netflix series had in mind an alternate ending for this character. And, in fact, part of his characterization reveals what he would be like.

Cressida Cowper was to have a different ending in ‘Brigerton 3’
Throughout “Bridgerton” Season 3, Cressida gained more attention and depth. In the final episodes of this installment, we see her so desperate to avoid marrying an older man that she takes credit for her gossip column ‘Lady Whistledown’.
However, her plan to collect the reward offered by the queen to anyone who exposes the author does not work and she ends up ostracized from society. The last time he appears on screen, he takes a carriage filled with all his possessions. Although it is not detailed where she goes, it can be inferred that she goes to Wales, since her father sent her aunt to isolate her for a while.
Jessica Madsen, who plays Cressida Cowper, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the show had originally planned a different ending for her character. This alternative version was even recorded.
“[En el primer final que filmamos]Lady Cowper (her mother), rescues her, gets into the carriage with her and they go away together,” he explained.
This revelation gives new meaning to the hairstyle worn by mother and daughter in their final scenes: Cressida’s featured a cage on a chain, while Lady Cowper wore a key in her hair. By doing so, it was implied that her mother would save her.
Showrunner Jess Brownell explained that while “it was a beautiful moment,” during editing, she and Shonda Rhimes realized that it “felt like an ending for Cressida, like closing her story” and , since they plan to explore her character even more in the next installment, they stuck with the shot that only shows the young woman in the carriage.

Is Cressida in love with Eloise?
In the aforementioned interview with ‘Entertainment Weekly’, Jessica Madsen questioned many fans’ theory that something more than a friendship could be brewing between Cressida Cowper and Eloise Bridgerton.
In that regard, she commented, “I think what we’re seeing are two girls with a really great connection and chemistry, and it’s unexpected. It was really important for Claudia (Jessie, who plays Eloise) and I to make sure the connection was authentic and real because we didn’t want there to be any question of him being manipulative or trying to get back at Penelope. or something. […] But as for Cressida and Eloise, it’s just a friendship.”
