The case went viral on social media after the father gave an unusual excuse for his son not attending classes

A fanatical fan father will surely pass on his passion to his children. This was the case of the Scotsman Iain Meiklejohn, who went viral on social media when he posted an email sent by choice of his son, justifying his absences from school: he says that the boy is on an “educational trip” to see the European Championships .

The Eurocup, the most important national team tournament in Europe, is underway in Germany. Father and son traveled to the countryside to watch Scotland matches.

“I am writing to you only to inform you that Aleks Meiklejohn will not be going to school from Thursday 13 June until Scotland are eliminated from Euro 2024. We will be taking an educational trip around Germany visiting different cities where we will study the emotional ups and downs that only a Scottish fan. I’ll make sure Aleks makes a detailed report when he gets back. Go Scotland!,” the email says.

On Instagram, Iain recorded moments with his son during matches. But, as his father had predicted, the adventure was not long in coming to an end. This is because Scotland, who are in Group A of the competition, were defeated on their debut by hosts Germany 5-1, and have little hope of making the stage.

The Scots return to the field on Wednesday 19th at 4pm against Switzerland.
