Men aged 26 to 35 were caught with ballistic vests, drugs and weapons; the investigation continues
Last Tuesday (18), the Civil Police and the Military Brigade arrested two men in flagrante delicto for possession of a firearm, limited caliber ammunition, drug trafficking and possession of ballistic vests. The suspects, aged 26 and 35, are being investigated for involvement in a murder that occurred last Sunday in Erechim (16).
Monitored by the Police Station for the Repression of Organized Criminal Organizations (Draco) and the Intelligence Services of the 13th Battalion of the Military Police (BPM), the suspects attempted to flee at the sight of the police, but were captured.
Two ballistic vests, portions of marijuana, a balaclava and a precision scale were found together with the 26-year-old. The other suspect was in possession of a 9mm pistol and two loaded magazines. Both were taken to Draco de Erechim and subsequently to Erechim prison, where they await judicial custody.
Investigations continue into the murder, whose victim was Volmir Lemos dos Santos, 55 years old. Santos was found dead in his home on Avenida Francisco Magnus Spertacke, in the Floresta neighborhood, after residents alerted the Military Brigade to the gunshots. The motivation for the crime has not yet been clarified.
