According to DeadlineChinese studio Enlight Media has announced that filmmaker Zhang Yimou, who worked on The Secret of Flying Daggers, Wives and Concubines and The Forbidden City, will direct a new adaptation of the sci-fi literary work.

The studio’s CEO, Wang Changtian, explained that the filmmaker was in the early stages of making The 3-Body Problem. “We hope that director Zhang Yimou can capture the essence of the novel, achieve breakthroughs and innovations, and win something in the international market.”
