Ahead of Batman 2, here’s The Penguin and his trailer for the iconic DC Comics villain

Anticipated for several years, the Penguin series is finally getting ready to hit our screens. Conceived as a sequel to the Batman movie with Robert Pattinson, this TV production follows the rise of Oswald Cobblepot (Colin Farrell), aka The Penguin, in the Gotham City crime syndicate.

A direct sequel to Batman

A new trailer has confirmed that the series will take place shortly after the end of Batman. The Black Knight’s clash with the Sphinx left the city in fire and blood. It is in this climate of chaos, compounded by the death of local godfather Carmine Falcone, that the Penguin does well.

but before “Pull the Strings” (the expression he uses in the trailer), the latter will have to face new enemies and especially the appearance of Sofia Falcone (Christine Milioti) – Carmine’s daughter – who intends to replace her father at the head of the mafia clan.

But in his unstoppable rise, Penguin can still count on the support of the Falcons’ incarcerated rival Salvatore Maroni (Clancy Brown). And one thing is certain: Oswald Cobblepot will stop at nothing to seize power, even if it means eliminating his competition at gunpoint.

Batman will not cross paths with the Joker

This detective series, inspired by Scarface and The Sopranos, will therefore allow fans of the DC Comics universe to wait until the release of Batman 2. The release of a feature film in which Robert Pattinson will once again don the suit of the Dark Knight. In fact, it is planned for the end of 2025.

Remember that like the Joker with Joaquim Phoenix, this version of Batman doesn’t fit into the connected DC universe rebooted by James Gunn. This revival of the franchise will offer its own version of Batman, although an interpreter for this new version of the superhero has not yet been chosen.

The Penguin series can be seen next September exclusively on the new Max streaming platform.
