Brazil started with the lead at 12 to 11. Unlike the first set, when they faltered in closing the set, Brazil showed concentration and calm and scored 25 to 20 and drew the semifinal with 1 set to 1. The decisive point was scored by Captain Gabi, who also did much better in the second half. Júlia Bergmann was once again the top scorer, with 7 points in the set.

Japan takes advantage of a moment of lack of concentration from the Brazilian team and takes the lead at the end of the third set: 22 to 17. Brazil manages to react and reduces the lead to 22 to 21. The Asians regain control of the match. game and closed at 25/21.

Needing a win to stay alive, Brazil started the fourth set very well and took a 6-0 lead, tying the set at 10-10 and 21-21, but at no point did they lead on the board. Júlia Bergmann remained in the center of the set and had her left calf treated, while Ana Cristina took her place. The team forced the tiebreaker by scoring 25/22.

In the deciding set, Japan took advantage of Brazil’s errors and immediately took a 4-0 lead. The Brazilian team saw their rivals lead 7-2, but managed to balance the match and remained one point behind the Japanese until the draw at 9-9. From then on the teams alternated on the scoreboard until Japan took advantage of a receiving error and scored 13 to 11. Japan ended the match with a block by Brazil.
