Starlink Mini is a portable Internet antenna that reaches up to 100 Mbps in download and fits in a backpack; the launch in Brazil has not been confirmed

A SpaceXa company led by Elon Musk which has the Starlink satellite Internet service, announced the launch of Starlink Mini this Friday (21st). As the name suggests, this is a compact internet antenna that promises to bring your connection everywhere.

The Starlink Mini is practically the size of a notebook, with dimensions of 298.5 x 259 x 38.5 mm and just 1.1 kg. Combined with the IP67 certification, which protects it from water and dust, the device can be used by adventurers, as long as the country supports SpaceX’s orbital satellites.

Inside the antenna we have a router capable of providing up to 100 Mbps download, impressive considering its size. Its consumption is also low, around 20-40 W. According to Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, setting up the device takes only five minutes and is “easily transportable in a backpack”. “This product will change the world,” the executive said.

The initial launch is in the US as an add-on to residential plans. The unit costs US$599, while the additional cost to add it to the plan will be US$30, i.e. the monthly fee will be US$150. This subscription grants 50GB of mobile data per month and you will be charged US$1 per month. GB used after the agreement. The information comes from early access invitations sent to some users.

In addition to the United States, the Starlink Mini will also be sold in Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama. Interestingly, there is no data cap in these countries, but use on the move and at sea will not be allowed. Brazil was excluded from this first wave, but Musk’s promise is to bring the device to more countries.
