Jean Lefebvre in the comedy series during the Second World War, this may remind you of something, but this is not the Seventh Company! C8 tonight airs The Day of Glory, a little-known film made in 1976, just after we found Seventh Company!

Jean Lefebvre, a hero in spite of himself
During the occupation, the Saint-Laurent bridge was blown up due to the mistake of Grégoire Valentine, a Parisian, sent by the administration to guard the local prison and postman. Before the Germans came and started repression, the inhabitants of the small village decided to clear the road to Saint Laurent. But once again Grigori makes a mistake and leads the Germans to the village.
We can hardly hide it, Glory Day offers the seen and re-seen and stretches them too far – like animals in a church whose presence must be hidden – but they are always well played and quite well done. .

We are delighted to see Jean Lefebvre as the clumsy Gregor, Pierre Tornad as the village mayor, Darry Cole as the priest and Jacques Marin as the bistro owner. So many names that don’t necessarily speak to the new generation, but that doesn’t matter because Glory Day is first and foremost a film set in its time.

Misunderstandings continue and the clumsy Gregoire quickly finds himself becoming one of the heroes of the day. The film also shows the cowardice and hypocrisy of the inhabitants of Saint-Laurent, who do not hesitate to force Grigor, a “foreigner”, a “Parisian” to give the Germans what he does not have.
