Actor Marco Pigossi (“Invisible City”) posted the first behind-the-scenes photo of “Varsity”, a spin-off of “The Boys”. The image was taken in front of a door named after his character, Dr. Edison Cardosa.
When the document was revealed, many thought it might be a spelling mistake. It is not. The actor will play Dr. Cardosa and not Dr. Cardoso, as he would be more suited to a Brazilian character.
Alongside the image posted on Instagram, Pigossi also wrote: “Why so serious, Doctor?”, In English.
There is no further information on the role, but besides Pigossi, actors Jaz Sinclair and Chance Perdomo (both from “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”), Lizze Broadway (“Here and Now”), Maddie Phillips (“Bounty Hunters” ), London Thor (“Shameless”), Derek Luh (“Shining Vale”), Shelley Conn (“Bridgerton”), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Arnold’s Son), Sean Patrick Thomas (“The Tragedy of Macbeth”) and newcomer Asa Germann.
The attraction’s full title will be released as “The Boys Presents: Varsity” – in the style of “The Boys Presents: Diabolical”, the animated spin-off.
The new attraction will take place in a superhero university and will explore “the hormonal and competitive lives of young heroes as they test their physical, sexual and moral limits and compete for the best contracts in the best cities.”
“Varsity” was developed by screenwriter Craig Rosenberg (“The Mystery of the Two Sisters”), who is part of the team behind “The Boys”, but abandoned the project during the production of the pilot, citing creative differences. In their place, Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, creators of “Reaper” and “Emergence”, took over as showrunners and made several changes to the project, including the cast initially considered.
There is no release date for production yet.
