Kenyan activist Auma Obama, half-sister of former US President Barack Obama, was among protesters hit by tear gas this Tuesday during demonstrations outside Kenya’s Parliament in Nairobi, she said in an interview with CNN.

Auma Obama was pulled aside during the brawl by a CNN reporter and asked why she was there.
“I’m here because look what’s happening. Young Kenyans are demonstrating for their rights. They demonstrate with flags and banners. I can’t even see anymore,” he said, starting to cough and shielding his eyes from the rising smoke. she was pouring in.

Auma Obama had already posted photos of herself on X during the protest.
