The new versions of the MSI and Inno3D video cards confirm the arrival of a variant of the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER with the larger and heavier AD102 chip
Available for purchase from the end of January, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER has already gotten several versions from various manufacturers, but it seems that NVIDIA and its partners are producing the GPU with a different chip. Leaked specs this week of an MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Ventus 3X Black OC confirm that the model features a larger and heavier AD102 chip and not the traditional AD103.

The information was discovered by tipster wxnod and posted on his profile on X (ex Twitter), revealing the product specification table. The big difference is the presence of the AD102-225 chipwhich arrives as a replacement for the AD103-275, although it has the same 8,448 Core CUDA of the predecessor.
In terms of technical specifications, the two technologies are very similar. The AD102 belongs to a class of more robust graphics cards, such as the RTX 4090 and RTX 4090D Exclusive to China, and highlights the larger size of the chip, as well as the greater weight. In practice, this should make little difference compared to the AD103, except for power consumption, which goes from 285W to 295W.
Furthermore, the tipster also found the complete spec sheet of another RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, but this time an Inno3D model. The screenshot confirms the switch from silicon, while maintaining its other features.

Changes like this are nothing new in the industry, so much so recently the standard RTX 4070 received a different chip than the standardThe expectation is that the change will not lead to significant differences in performance.
