America has talent It awards certain artists each season with golden bells for advancing in the competition, and Judge Simon Cowell’s selection in season 16 made an impact with both his incredible song and powerful story. Singer Jane “Nightbirde” Marczewski he was a favorite to potentially win the season as well after only one performance, but sadly had to withdraw from the competition due to his battle with cancer. She died in February and now Cowell used season 17 to pay homage to him.
AG took a break from the season 17 audition round in the final episode and instead focused on Simon Cowell’s picks for the best gold players in show business history. He made a special mention to Nightbirde and made sure to pay tribute to him with the show. he took it for instagram to praise her bravery remembering the night in 2021 when the doorbell rang for her, posting:

Simon Cowell selected a season 16 moment photo right after he rang Nightbirde’s golden bell, then went to the AG stage to give him a hug. Her performance made an emotional impact on all judges, but Cowell went a little crazy when he announced that he wasn’t going to give her a “yes” to move on. Fortunately, it was because he intended to give her one of the AGTop marks with a gold bell.
Tragically, less than two months after Simon Cowell pushed her into live shows, Nightbirde had to retire from season 16 . Even if you said to act AG it was “an honor” and “a dream come true”, his health had deteriorated and he could no longer resume another job.
A little over a month later, Simon Cowell shared that he spoke to Nightbirde after the first half of the Season 15 finale and said that he thought he would win the entire contest If I could come back. She also shared that they made the decision not to move forward due to the stress it would cause to her health.
Then, in February 2022, the talented singer e America has talent standout died after a long battle with cancer that began in 2017. After his death, Cowell spoke and praised her as an “extraordinary person” which had “a huge impact” on both of them AG and the world. She sent his love of him to her family, along with the message “Rest in peace” to the woman who had so impressed him with his talent. Their collaborator AG judges and host Terry Crews also paid tribute to her at that moment.
With the five gold rings of season 17 already awarded and Simon Cowell looking back on those who have excelled in the show’s history, it makes sense that he jumped at the opportunity to put it on display again. In case you missed its original look AG (or just want to relive it all), check out her performance of her original song “It’s Okay” on the AG furniture:
While the episode “Simon’s Favorite Golden Buzzers” was a good interlude in the auditions to remember AG days gone by, the show it will soon be back to normal .
