Google search will no longer have infinite scrolling, the website says

Google plans to eliminate the continuous scrolling option in search results on both mobile phones and computers

OR Google has begun ending the infinite scroll (also known as continuous scroll) option in search results, a feature rolling out in 2021 on mobile phones and in 2022 on desktop. This means that at the end of the first page of your search, you will again see buttons in the footer for subsequent pages.

First on the desktop

According to the Search Engine Land site, which claims to have received the information from a Google spokesperson, the continuous scrolling function began to be suspended on Tuesday (25) in the desktop version of the search engine, while on mobile phones and tablets the option will be deactivated starting from July; in Brazil the functionality is still available.

With the change, in addition to no longer being able to scroll endlessly to check search results, a “Next” button will appear on computers and a “More Results” button on mobile devices.

The Google spokesperson reportedly said that the change is intended to allow the company to be faster rather than automatically loading results that users have not explicitly requested. Furthermore, Gigante de Buscas discovered that loading more results automatically did not lead to significantly greater satisfaction for the person.

OR Canaltech has reached out to Google to learn more about the situation and will update the article if we hear back.

Google is used to “killing” products

This isn’t the first time Google has discontinued a product or service shortly after launch, something that has not only become routine in the corridors of Big Tech but has also become a laughing stock among tech enthusiasts. technology – it’s the good old “if it stays together”, it stays.

Recently, the company “killed” Google Podcastsa platform specifically for this type of content launched in 2018. Before that, the social network Google Buzz lasted just over a year and died to give birth to Google+, but this too fell by the wayside in 2019.

There are so many products and services annihilated by the company, that the Canaltech brought together a few examples in one place to honor the Google graveyard.
