In 2023, the news shocked the whole world: three children and a baby were found in the Colombian Amazon, where they had managed to survive completely alone for 40 days.
Lesly, 13, Soleiny, 9, Tien, 4, and Cristin, just 11 months old, had boarded a small plane with their mother on May 1. However, it crashed in a tragic accident in the middle of the Guaviare jungle.
The infants were the only survivors of the fall and, moreover, managed to stay alive until a team specialized in these roads and the Colombian authorities found them. The operation was called Operation Hope, a name they honored since in the previous days, with the possibility of finding them alive, they were located.
‘Lost in the Amazon’: the documentary depicting the true story of 4 children who survived alone in the Colombian jungle
One year after Operation Hope, the events are depicted in “Lost in the Amazon,” a MAX documentary that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.
The feature film depicts, day by day, the events from May 15, 2023, when rescuers found the crashed plane and some lifeless bodies, to June 9, 2023, when they found the children.
The production features unpublished images of these moments, photos and videos taken by the rescue team throughout the operation. The only editing done to this file was to display it in black and white.
Likewise, it has interviews with those involved in the feat and relatives of the so-called “Jungle Children” or “Miracle Children”.
Thus, a detailed account of how the rescue was carried out is achieved.
Where to watch ‘Lost in the Amazon’?

What happened to the four children lost in the Amazon?
After 40 days alone in the Amazon jungle, Lesly, Soleiny, Tien and Cristin were rescued and the Colombian authorities performed the relevant medical studies on them.
The cubs were left in the care of Colombia’s Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, which on June 9 said in a statement that “the brothers have never been separated. (…) They study and enjoy the life that boys and girls should have at this age.”
