‘Best Latin Duel Choreography’: Has The Acolyte Series Won Star Wars Fans After Episode 5?

Warning, spoilers. It is recommended to watch Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 5 before reading this article.

Airing June 4 on Disney+, The Acolyte is a new Star Wars series created and produced by Leslie Headland (who worked on Russian Doll). This piece of fiction takes us back to the era of the High Republic, where the Jedi Order is at its peak and flourishing.

But when several mysterious crimes are committed, a respected Jedi Master leads an investigation that pits him against a dangerous warrior from his past. As new clues emerge, the two embark on a dark path where evil forces show them that things aren’t always what they seem…

Star Wars: The Acolyte can count on a great cast, namely two headliners Amanda Stenberg (Hunger Games, The Hate U Give, Bodies Bodies Bodies) and South Korean TV series Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae.

The series had a rocky start and the public did not take kindly to the first episodes of The Acolyte, which is currently rated 1.9 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers. But episode five may well turn things around. Entitled “The Night”, this chapter, as brutal as it is thrilling, has convinced fans of the saga.

The fifth episode of The Acolyte convinced Star Wars fans

The fifth episode of The Acolyte is the first scene of the long-awaited revelation, namely the identity of the big bad guy. So we learn it’s Qimir (Manny Jacinto), a smuggler who helped May get her revenge against the Jedi. He is actually the masked Sith behind the darkness that befalls the Jedi Order.

And fans seem to be very pleased with the announcement, if comments on social media are to be believed. Some draw parallels with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) from the post-log and even Darth Vader.

But if this 5th episode of Acolyte also meets some success, it is because of the impressive fight scenes, very choreographed and above all violent, at night and because of the losses caused. Indeed, the Star Wars franchise allowed itself to kill off important characters such as Jedi Jack (Daphne Keen) and Yordy (Charlie Barnett) at the hands of the Sith Chimir.

If episode five of The Acolyte seems to have reconciled Star Wars fans, we’ll have to wait for the final three episodes to find out if the public will see their collective appreciation grow. But it’s clear that this fifth chapter allows us to turn the tables and give the series a second wind, especially since Mei has replaced her twin sister Osha. Whether that will be better or worse remains to be seen.
