Six years after Voiceless and three years after John Krasinski’s direct sequel, a prequel titled Day 1 has just hit our theaters. This feature film directed by Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff and Djimon Hounsou takes place on the first day of an alien invasion in New York.
Rated 3.7 by AlloCiné viewers, this new sci-fi saga expands the world and lets us discover other characters and how the noise-sensitive creatures arrived on Earth.
Directed by Michael Sarnosky, who has already worked on The Pig alongside Nicolas Cage, Quietly: Day 1 brings a new vision to the franchise.
Unlike the previous installment, in which the family already knows the rules they must follow, the characters in this film are instantly plunged into fear. They need to understand how creatures work and adapt.
What do early viewers think of this prequel? With 121 ratings and 29 reviews at the time of writing, Keep Calm: Day 1 has an average rating of 2.9 out of 5 stars.
They liked it
Vom hause kristo gives the film 5 stars and writes: “Another vision of the alien apocalypse. The setting of New York is extraordinary, the action scenes are breathtaking and the actors are very accurate. I recommend you, especially to understand a little more.
Quiet for Anthony Olmeta: Day 1 is a “An excellent film that plays well on suspense and character building with a realistic portrayal.”
Day 1
Flower0478 gives it a 4-star rating: “I really liked the story. To be honest, I wasn’t bored at all, there was action. And I didn’t expect it, but there were a lot of emotions. I really like Lupita Nyong’o as an actress. The acting duo works very well and we get nervous at the end. I recommend this movie.”
djami is for M “It’s a really good movie that you don’t have to compare to the other 2 to judge because the subject matter isn’t the same. Showing what happened on the first day is a really good idea, plus Djimon Hounsou’s character creates a link to Soundless 2.
The film also emphasizes the relationship between the two protagonists (loneliness, compassion), as previous films emphasized family.
Cecil “luv_sanguine” notes: “Was I the only one who cried at the end of the movie? At least I liked it, contrary to the comments I’ve read, I guess it explains the arrival of the creatures well. We attach ourselves to the moment, the moment to T. We are the heroes and we live the story as if it were our own.”

Day 1
For Ghighi19, “It’s definitely a great first time you’ve dared to put emotion into this type of film. Congratulations on making this choice. The result is very impressive because the two actors are simply amazing. It’s weird to write that, but it’s tender and beautiful for a movie that’s supposed to be scary. It’s really good.”
They liked it less
Cinévore 24 gives it a rating of 3/5 and writes: “An origin story that works better on its intimate side (especially thanks to its lead duo of Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn, despite its somewhat simplistic motivations) than its gory side, it’s overall rather conventional and predictable, and ultimately second-rate. plot. “Author’s blockbuster”, which can be watched without much surprise, but with a little emotion.”
for Pierre Nicolas”The movie is not bad, but admittedly, the trailer is a bit misleading in that we expect a lot of action and in the end things happen very quickly and without much explanation.
A few action scenes are almost all in the trailer. We have the impression that many things have been reduced, they barely landed and everyone already knows the weaknesses of the invaders… (…)
It remains a good movie that’s more awe-inspiring than scary, but there was so much potential with this alien invasion and the mechanics of it, unfortunately it wasn’t fully exploited.”

Day 1
Imc-3 gives the film a score of 1/5. He explains: “The universe is right, the monsters of our beloved franchise are there, New York is in ruins, but we’ve lost the charismatic characters, the stakes, the tension, the fun (…)
Is this a horror movie? A psychological thriller that aims to be philosophical? Very poorly paced, comical in spite of itself, almost zero tension, one-sided, no answers about the world, it’s flat, uninteresting, pathetic, sad: empty. A waste of time and energy.”
For AD, the film does not live up to previous films: “What a shock after the first 2 successful films… the pacing is bad, the actors have no charisma, the mismatch with the world is obvious (whispers, walks loudly, etc.)… and I don’t even talk. There is no cat on Lexomil.
The final third is an ordeal and we only wish the monsters were a little more effective… That leaves the special effects, which aren’t bad, and the first part of the film, which is just right.”
But the best thing is to form your opinion and come and rate the movie on AlloCiné! Quietly: Day 1 It’s currently in theaters.
