Riposte is the Netflix movie everyone is talking about at the moment… and not necessarily in a good way. Jessica Alba makes a big return to our screens as a soldier who returns to his homeland to avenge his father. For 1 hour 45 minutes, the actor fights with his bare hands or with various weapons.

If Riposte lacks finesse in production and has many inconsistencies in its script, Jessica Alba excels in acting. And it’s not surprising. In an interview with the American media CBRThe 43-year-old actor explains that he applied everything he learned on Dark Angel, the TV series that introduced him, in 2000.

“It was my first major role and it had an unprecedented impact on my career: Dark Angel is the foundation of what I can do in terms of acting. It was fun to play and I felt strong. I never had the opportunity to apply everything I learned early in my career before Riposte. This is the first film where I am in a melee like that. “

An ambitious series

“He was created to be the perfect soldier, a human tool, then he escaped…”. If you were born before the 2000s, then you’ve probably already heard of Dark Angel, which aired on American television between 2000 and 2002.

This particularly ambitious SF series has the distinction of being created and produced by James Cameron himself (director of Titanic and Avatar, among others). In France it was on the M6 and in the famous Saturday Trilogy that we could see every week.

It dropped us into a pulse-induced post-apocalyptic world (an electromagnetic pulse due to a nuclear explosion caused by a terrorist attack). His hero Max is a genetically modified creature since childhood. He fights for survival in search of brothers who, like him, have been experimenting in a military complex that aims to produce super soldiers.

Jessica Alba quickly caught the eye of Cameron, who entrusted her with the key to his series. The latter would eventually be canceled after two seasons as it was deemed too expensive. Instead, the channel wanted to focus on Joss Whedon and his new post-Buff project called Firefly…

Check it out, watch it on Netflix.
