The stars of yesterday and today all made their first film when they were unknown. Sometimes that first feature film catapulted them to immediate fame, like Lino Ventura with Touchez pas au grisbi, and sometimes the film was completely forgotten and its cast didn’t break the bank. That’s true most of the time, and especially so with The Zintruss, in which Austin Butler made his film debut.
The Zintrus (Aliens in the Attic in its original version) was released in theaters on October 28, 2009. This family film, suitable for children aged 8 and up, tells the story of an alien invasion of the Pearson family’s holiday home. Quickly, the adults find themselves mentally controlled by the creatures, and only the children, immune, can stop what has already begun… and Austin Butler is among them!
He became famous thanks to the musical biography and “Dune”.
Austin Butler in “The Zintruses”
Yes, you may recognize Austin Butler from Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and more recently the big bad Dune: Part Two. After The Zintrus, the actress would have 5 years of small films before being cast as an elf in The Carrie Diaries and then The Shannara Chronicles for two seasons. Appearances with Tarantino and Jim Jarmusch then led him to Elvis, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
He is one of the 10 most sought-after Hollywood stars!

In “Elvis”, 13 years later
As for The Zintrus, directed by John Schultz, generally a rather inspired director, it doesn’t exceed the ambition of a Disney Channel TV movie, both in its elaborate gags and its thin script, as well as its budget – and its acting. Great part in alien animation.

The curiosity remains to see Austin Butler at the age of 18, with his characteristic deep voice already present, leading this small group, like Josh Brolin, leading the Goonies 24 years earlier. You should see him, armed with his patator (potato peeler), trying to shoot the giant alien with a confidence that commands respect.
Austin Butler is currently in theaters in Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders.
