Flamengo and Cruzeiro played a balanced match at the Maracanã, this Sunday (30/6), for the 13th round of the Brasileirão. Rubro-Negro has had good and bad moments; Fox showed good tactical work, dominating the actions. But in the end it was Mengo, 2-1, who opened the scoring for the hosts. However, the Minas Gerais team equalized in the first half, with a beautiful goal from Matheus Pereira. In the final phase, Fabrício Bruno, with a header, gave Flamengo the victory, amidst the celebration of over 56 thousand present at the Maraca.

With this victory, Flamengo rises to 27 points, at the top of the table. But now, in isolation. After all, Bahia lost against San Paolo and stopped at 24 points, the same as Botafogo. Palmeiras, with 23, is still playing in the group. Cruzeiro continues with 20 points.

Peter does not forgive

The first 45 minutes were good. Thus, the teams exchanged good passes, looking for spaces in attack and each with players who made the difference: Gerson for Rubro-Negro and Matheus Pereira for Raposa. Gerson had objectivity, as happened in the 16th minute. He received it from Fabrício Bruno (who stole the ball in midfield), went on the attack and made an excellent pass to Pedro who scored the first half and made it 1-0 for Flamengo.

Matheus Pereira, waste separation

On Raposa’s side, Matheus Pereira tried to work in all areas. Therefore, the marking was confusing. And he succeeded at 37 years old. After all, after Lucas Silva won a challenge from Gerson and started the attack, the number 10 of Minas Gerais positioned himself in the middle, received the ball and shot without escape for Rossi. Then Mengo heard the goal, remained behind and began to feel under pressure. La Volpe had at least three opportunities to turn around, but without success.

Flamengo takes the lead again

Rubro-Negro returns from the break with Léo Ortiz replacing Lorran and Gerson freed up front, on the right. He returned excited, coming close to scoring with Gerson and Bruno Henrique. But the Rio team gives space to Cruzeiro’s counterattacks. The game was therefore open and undefined. Cruzeiro was better positioned on the pitch. But in the 20th minute Flamengo commits a foul on the left of the attack. Luiz Araújo’s shot goes to the head of Fabrício Bruno, free due to a childish marking error. Mengo 2 to 1.

At 40, the most controversial move of the match. In a Flamengo attack from the left, Robert shared with Ayrton Lucas, who fell. The judge awarded a penalty, considering an elbow from Cruzeiro, despite complaints from the Minas Gerais team. But after three minutes the referee went to VAR and overturned the call. In injury time Cruzeiro had the upper hand, but failed to equalise.
