The second season of The House of the Dragon (House of the Dragon), series derived from game of Throneshas finally arrived on Max and has left fans waiting for every episode. That’s because the production will follow the famous Targaryen civil war, known as The Dance of Dragons. In anticipation of what many already know: yes, the conflict resulted in many deaths. Check out each character’s ending below:
According to Fire & Blood, the original book on which the series is based, A Dance with Dragons was one of the most defining conflicts in the history of the fantasy land of Westeros. Unlike GoT, however, the endings of all the characters have already been described in the work.
It is worth noting, of course, that the series is based only on the book, so it may change some results. Follow the end of the characters below according to the book.
With the war over, Queen Rhaenyra decides to return to her headquarters at Dragonstone, and to do so she must sell her crown in exchange for transportation: at one point in the conflict, she fled King’s Landing with her penniless son Aegon III.
Upon arriving at the castle, he finds its garrison dead and his half-brother, Aegon II, commanding the kingdom alongside the dragon Sunfyre. Ambushed in her own home, Rhaenyra is handed over by her brother to the dragon and devoured by her. Her son observes everything about her: he dies only at the age of 33, on another occasion.

Rhaenyra’s husband (also her uncle) spends much of the Dance of the Dragons longing to face his nephew Aemond. At one point, the princes fight in the skies atop their dragons, Caraxes and Vhagar, over the God’s Eye.
As Vhagar and Caraxes destroyed each other, Daemon leaped onto Aemond’s dragon and plunged his sword Dark Sister into his nephew’s blind eye. The dragons fell into the famous lake (God’s Eye) and Vhagar’s body sank. He was found years later with Aemond’s body still attached to him and Daemon’s sword embedded in his skull.
Due to his injuries, Caraxes dies shortly afterwards, a little further from the lake. Daemon was also presumed dead, but his body was never found.

Although she survives the Dance of the Dragons, Alicent, widow of King Viserys I Targaryen, is destroyed after the end of the war and the deaths of all her children. With the accession to the throne of Aegon III, Rhaenyra’s son, the queen refuses reconciliation and ends up confined to her rooms in the Red Keep. She dies during the Winter Fever, in 133, crying and without clarity.

The Queen Who Never Was is one of the first casualties of Rhaenyra’s black side war. After the death of Prince Lucerys, triggering the start of the war between blacks and greens, she rides Meleys, her dragon, and sets out to seek help against the troops led by Ser Criston Cole (green).
The princess, however, is ambushed by Aegon and Aemond riding Sunfyre and Vhagar. Rhaenys fights, but is burned to death after Vhagar attacks. Meleys, known as the Red Queen, also dies after being struck by a rival dragon in the sky.

With Rhaenyra dead, Aegon II attempts to regain control of the kingdom. However, his half-sister’s allies choose Aegon III, known as Young, son of Rhaenyra and Daemon. After a council meeting to discuss the matter, the king dies of poisoning after drinking a glass of wine.
Corlys Velaryon and Larys Clubfoot, who at this point wanted The Younger on the Iron Throne, appear to have secretly conspired to cause Aegon II’s death.

With the death of her son, Jaehaerys, Helaena, daughter of Viserys and Alicent (Rhaenyra’s half-sister), becomes known as the Mad Queen. She lives imprisoned in her chambers during Rhaenyra’s reign in the Red Keep, until she throws herself from the window of the chamber of Maegor, Aegon II’s youngest son who also dies during the war. She falls between the stakes of the dry moat.

The Kingmaker dies in battle against Queen Rhaenyra’s reinforcements from the North and the Riverlands. His head is staked by Longleaf the Lion Slayer in the town of Tumbleton, south of King’s Landing.

Rhaenyra’s eldest son by Laenor Velaryon (her first marriage), the prince died in a naval battle against the ships of the Free Cities, allies of Otto Hightower (father of Alicent Hightower). His dragon, Vermax, was killed in the conflict, with Jacaerys falling into the wreckage of the enemy ships. He was wounded by an arrow in the neck and subsequently swallowed by the sea.

The third son of Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon, Joffrey Velaryon was the last of the three brothers to die. At the age of 13 at the time of the Dance, he panics when the population rebels and marches into the Dragon Pit to kill the creatures.
He then rides, without his mother’s permission, on Syrax, the queen’s dragon, to the place to try to defend his dragon, Tyraxes. However, Syrax did not recognize him as her rider and struck the boy down in mid-air. He died from the fall. His sword is said to have remained stuck in his abdomen.

The most cunning and strategic mind behind Alicent, the Dowager Queen and her daughter Otto, met a swift end. The lord served as Hand to three kings – Jaehaerys, Viserys, and Aegon – and was later exposed as a traitor to the kingdom. Rhaenyra has him beheaded when he retakes the Red Keep, seat of the Kings of the Seven Kingdoms.

The Survivor! Corlys endured the Dance of the Dragons, dying only in 132 after the Conquest. Also with a swift but relatively peaceful end, the Sea Serpent, in his late 80s, falls while climbing the stairs of the Red Keep. His body was buried for seven days before the Iron Throne and “interred” on the ship that bore his name.
In the story, the navigator is the father of Laenor Velaryon, Rhaenyra’s first husband (which has a different outcome than in the books in the first season of the series. While in the original work Laenor is murdered, in the production he fakes his death and flees). Corlys supports the blacks during the Dance of the Dragons.

Also considered a traitor to the kingdom, Larys Strong is condemned by Aegon III, who ascends the throne at the end of the Dance. Lord Stark, who is on his way to King’s Landing to organize the kingdom, offers Larys the chance to wear the black robe of the Guard, but he refuses and is eventually beheaded.
In his last wish he also asked for his “club foot” to be cut off, which was granted.

Son of Alicent and King Viserys Targaryen, Daeron became heir of the Greens after the deaths of his half-brothers, Aegon II Targaryen, Helaena Targaryen and Aemond Targaryen. Hidden within the walls of Tumbleton, he dies after a merciless attack by Addam Velaryon (find out more about this character and his relationship with Laenor Velaryon here) and the Tully troops.
There are various versions of his death in history, but he certainly died on the night of the attack.

The two sons of Rhaenyra and Daemon survive the end of the Dance of the Dragons and both become kings of Westeros, each in their own time. Aegon III, as already mentioned, ascends to the throne in the unstable period following the conflict and the death of his mother.
Viserys II spends years missing after being kidnapped by Lysenes during the war. He returns years later, much older, and assumes the Iron Throne after the deaths of his grandchildren.
