Actor Brad Pitt, 58, said he suffers from a rare and incurable disease, prosopagnosia. The disorder would cause a kind of “face blindness”, which makes patients with difficulty remembering people.

In an interview with GQ, the Oscar winner stated that he would like to meet more people with this disease. “Nobody believes me! I want to meet others,” he said, that he has not received an official medical diagnosis.

The neurological condition creates the inability to recognize faces. There are different degrees of the disease, in the highest, patients cannot differentiate a face from an object.

The star said she feels ashamed when she can’t remember a person’s face. Because of this problem, she believes that people can see him as “self-centered, distracted and unapproachable”.

The disease can cause an aversion to social gatherings, so Pitt says he wants to stay home. People may also have a hard time recognizing their family and close friends. In this case, they associate these people with their unique voice, clothing, or physical attributes.

“From time to time, someone gives me context and I say, ‘Thank you for helping me,'” the actor said.

The actor said he tried to deny his condition but “pissed off more people.” Since he did not receive this official diagnosis, the actor was asked to be examined by a neuroscientist from Carnegie Mellon University, which is located in the United States.
