“That ’90s Show”: the ending of part 2 explained and the questions left by the Netflix series

In January 2023, Netflix released “That ’90s Show”, a sequel to “That ’70 Show”, in which Red and Kitty once again open the doors of their home to a group of teenagers. This time, to his granddaughter, Leia, and her friends.

On June 27, part 2 of the story hit the streaming platform. In the new episode, Leia returns to Point Place for her second summer of adventures and the team runs into some drama. Below, we delve into the end of those chapters and what could be expected in the next ones.

The ending explained in “That ’90s Show” part 2

The second part of the series explores the relationship between Leia and Jay after she almost kissed her best friend last summer. After the secret between the two is revealed, Nate ends his relationship with Nikki, though they discover that staying away from each other is more complicated than they first imagined.

For her part, Gwen lives her own romance with a boy completely opposite to her. Ozzie faces his first heartbreak and slowly begins to live openly as a gay man.

In the last chapter, the boys take advantage of the fact that Red and Kitty are going on a trip to Paris to throw a big party at their house. All the characters’ perfect plans start to fall apart: Leia’s grandfather reveals that he’s so afraid of flying that he doesn’t plan on getting on the plane, and the teenage party gets out of hand with so many guests.

In the final minutes, Kitty forces Red to take the flight to Paris, but his pilot is so drunk that he claims he cannot be behind the wheel of the plane.

Although Leia and her friends manage to get rid of their guests, a new problem arises: two men crash into their house and their car gets stuck in the Foremans’ kitchen. Somehow we meet Leo’s son, Sonny, who will take over his business after his ‘retirement’.

The ‘That ’90s Show’ Questions Part 3 Should Answer

“That ’90s Show” Part 2 Chapter 8 left a lot of loose ends, which fans hope will be resolved in the next installment.

One of them is what will happen to Forman’s grandparents: will they be stuck at the airport, will they be able to make that trip to Paris, or will they return home to find the destruction of the new generation?

Additionally, the Netflix series must resolve the relationship between Nate and Nikki. Despite ending their courtship, in Part 2 of ‘That’90s Show’ they experienced intense situations (including a scare when they thought she was pregnant). Watching her sing at the party, Nate seems to admit that he has fallen for her again, what will the future hold for them?

Another character who has to deal with her romantic future is Gwen. Cole tells her they only have one night before he leaves for college, and though they decide to make the most of it, it’s never shown whether they’ll decide to pursue a long-distance relationship or end their romance.

Jay and Leia’s love was also put on hold: both were ready to “take the next step” in their relationship, but, due to various circumstances, were unable to do so. Being such an important moment, it’s no surprise that this storyline is explored in the next installment of “That ’90s Show.”

Although Ozzie seems to have no loose ends, future episodes could focus even more on his experience as a gay teenager.
