Epic Games Prepares to Launch Fortnite on the App Store in Europe

The battle between Epic Games and Apple has been going on for more than four years, when the Fortnite company challenged the App Store’s rules

The whole issue started in 2020, when Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney accused Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store of “making more money than the creators themselves.” He cited, in particular, the charging of a 30% commission on every in-game purchase. Fortnite on the App Store.

Therefore, in the EU, Apple and Google have been forced to make several changes to their digital stores to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the region. The guidelines state, for example, that developers with apps through the App Store must be allowed to inform customers about alternative purchasing options, as well as direct them to such offers and make such purchases without any reduction in revenue.

So Epic Games can finally do exactly what it was doing when Fortnite was banned from the App Store. The company has already confirmed that it has filed the Fortnite to Apple “for the required authentication process.”

And since Apple is forced to accept, everything suggests that Fortnite will finally be able to return to iPhone and iPad in the coming months.
