Legend of Zelda Fan Arrested for Carrying Master Sword Replica in Public

The case occurred in the UK and resulted in a four-month prison sentence

Something unusual happened recently in the UK, with a Legend of Zelda fan being sentenced to four months in prison after being approached by police officers for carrying a replica of the Master Sword on the street.

Anthony Bray, 48, of Nuneaton, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a sharp object, which in this case was a sword, which could be removed from its scabbard by pressing a button.

When asked about the Master Sword, Bray said it was purchased online to be used as a stress toy. However, police explained (through Eurogamer) that despite this being the purpose, the sword “It was actually a sharp piece that could be used as a weapon and could make other people fear that it would be used against them.”

Bray said he would never use the sword as a real weapon, but acknowledged it could be seen as something threatening.

The police said yes “zero tolerance” carry objects of this kind in public, saying that there is “stress-relief toys that aren’t six-inch slides” and this “it is possible not to walk down the street by keeping them in front of you”.

In addition to the prison sentence, Bray will have to pay a fine of £154.
