The plot, however, almost didn’t work. After a successful first season — with a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes — the series faced some setbacks. The main one was the departure of screenwriter Terence Winter, who left his post after reporting conflicts with producer Taylor Sheridan. He later returned and resumed his position.

In April 2024, Stallone also faced criticism. Extras claimed they were mistreated on film sets and called “ugly” and “fat” by the performer. Screenwriter Julie Benson shared screenshots she received from an unidentified friend on X with a message showing employees quitting after witnessing a toxic environment. “The casting agent quit because she was so disgusted. My friend is anxious about her job right now.”
I got this disturbing news from my friend in Atlanta who has experience with Tulsa King this week. The casting agent walked out because she was so disgusted. My friend is anxious about working now. @TheSlyStallone What do you have to say in your favor, sir? Besides being disappointed, I am livid. pic.twitter.com/EYEuiaWtkf

At the time, Paramount+ said it was aware of the allegations, but director Craig Zisk denied the information to The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite all the problems, the new batch of episodes managed to take off and reach the streaming in September showing that Dwight is still struggling to keep his family and team safe while maintaining control of all his activities. Unfortunately for him, however, he will have to fight new enemies.
In addition to Stallone, the series also stars Martin Starr, Jay Will, Max Casella, Vincent Piazza, Tatiana Zappardino, Annabella Sciorra, Neal McDonough, Frank Grillo, Domenick Lombardozzi, Andrea Savage, Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany.
