The Festival pays homage to Rolando Boldrin, exponent of Sertanejo

The Revelando SP Festival (July 4-7) features several attractions at Burle Marx Park, in São José dos Campos, with a program that highlights the state’s traditional culture.

One of the attractions is the tribute to the actor, singer, composer and presenter Rolando Boldrin, who died on 9/11/2022, at the age of 86, in São Paulo. He spent two months hospitalized at the Albert Einstein Hospital.

Rolando Boldrin had a television career spanning over 60 years and hosted the music program “Mr. Brasil” for 17 years.

Boldrin has established himself as one of the main exponents of country culture and the roots of country music in Brazil.

At “Sr Brasil”, on TV Cultura, Rolando Boldrin has sung, told “stories”, played the guitar, danced and presented theatrical shows and short documentaries since 2005.

On television he also presented the programs “Empório Brasileiro” on TV Bandeirantes and “Empório Brasil” on SBT.

Rolando Boldrin received the Order of Cultural Merit in 2015, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, for his important work.

As an actor, Rolando Boldrin was present at the Grande Teatro Tupi, a teletheater program created by Sérgio Britto and produced by TV Tupi in the 1950s. In the photo, Boldrin appears next to Susana Vieira.

Rolando has acted in more than 30 soap operas, including “O Direito de Nascer”, “As Pupilas do Senhor Retor”. In the photo, Boldrin with Irene Ravache, with whom he acted in “A Viagem”, “O Profeta” and “Cara a Cara”.

Rolando also made films. Among the films, the one in the photo shows a scene from “Doramundo”, with Armando Bogus, directed by João Batista de Andrade in 1978.

In music, the multiple artist has recorded 174 works of various musical styles in his 60-year career.

And he appreciated the music of other artists with his programs that praised Brazilian music. Both from famous people (like Gilberto Gil, with Boldrin in the photo) and from unknown and very talented composers.

Boldrin was born on 10/22/1936 in the city of São Joaquim da Barra, in the interior of São Paulo. He was the seventh child in a family of 12 siblings.

As a boy he already played the viola. And he collaborated with his brother Leili to perform the country songbook. It was the duo Boy and Formiga. Rolando was the Boy.

At sixteen, encouraged by his father, Boldrin went to the capital São Paulo, hitchhiking on a truck.

Before starting his career as a singer and actor, he was a shoemaker, gas station attendant, doorman, waiter and pharmacist assistant. At eighteen he enlisted in the army in Quitaúna, in the city of Osasco. In the photo, Boldrin with Cláudio Marzo and Percy Aires at the Teleteatro Tupi.

Boldrin is the subject of a book from the Aplauso Collection, created by the Official Press to publicize the journey of great names in culture in Brazil.

Rolando Boldrin identified himself as follows: “Radio actor, soap opera, theatre actor, cinema actor, an actor who sings, recites poetry and tells stories”

Many artists, from different musical segments, mourned her death. In a post, rapper Emicida praised the importance of Boldrin.

Rolando Boldrin left a very important story in Brazilian culture and will be remembered forever. The tribute at the Revelando SP Festival is an exaltation of his memory.

The Revelando Festival has 5 editions in 2024. It has already taken place in May and June, continues in July and will return in August (from 9 to 11, in Presidente Prudente) and September (from 12 to 15, in the capital São Paulo).
