Meeting with James Cameron

Jon Landau and James Cameron met during the production of True Lies, a spy comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. The director was having trouble coming up with a budget, and Universal advised him to turn to John Landau, who had previously been known for several small productions. The duo hit it off perfectly and True Lies became one of the biggest box office hits of 1994.

It was only natural when Cameron started the project TitanicHe turns to Landau for support. The rest belongs to cinema history: 11 Oscars (including Best Picture for producer Jon Landau), over 2 billion in worldwide box office, the biggest hit of all time… until Avatar.

Avatar Born in Cameron’s mind even before Titanic was created. Upon discovering the first version of the script, Landau was captivated and promised his partner to produce what would become one of the most profitable and technologically successful sci-fi sagas ever made.
