
HBO has announced the cancellation of “Gentleman Jack” after two seasons.

The time series was based on the true story of the first modern lesbian, Anne Lister, who was a wealthy and successful businesswoman known not only for dressing in men’s clothes, but for marrying fiancée Ann Walker in a church in 1834. at the world’s first lesbian wedding.
Written, directed and produced by Sally Wainwright (creator of “Happy Valley”), the production featured Suranne Jones (“Doctor Foster”) as Anne Lister and Sophie Rundle (“Peaky Blinders”) as Ann Walker, as well as Gemma Whelan (“Game of Thrones”), Timothy West (“Masada”) and Gemma Jones (“Bridget Jones’s Diary”).
