Currently banks use more than 4 thousand different types of nomenclature in their operations.

Statements from banks associated with the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) from Monday 8th they will have standardized nomenclatures. The initiative of the banking sector aims to make the understanding of banking information more accessible, especially for those who have accounts opened in more than one financial institution.

Initially, the changes will affect the withdrawal and deposit operationswhich now have the same nomenclature. Other financial operations will be included later. Currently, banks use more than 4 thousand different types of nomenclature in their operations.

According to Walter Faria, deputy director of Febraban Services, the initiative will universalize information, making the customer better understand the operation performed, in addition to expanding the population’s access to banking services.

In the case of “deposit cheques at ATMs”, for example, which includes situations in which the customer deposits a cheque at the ATMs of the credited account branch, these are now described in the account statement with the acronym “DEP CHECK ATM”. Withdrawal transactions, such as when the customer withdraws cash at the affiliated branch counter using, for example, the account card, will be printed on the account statements as “WITHDRAWAL DIN CARTAGO AG”. A complete consultation of all the new nomenclatures can be carried out on the website of February.
