“House of Dragon” Season 2 Episode 4 brought back the epic battles and convoluted plots that many “Game of Thrones” fans missed and were looking forward to.
With the latest episode of the HBO series, the “Dance of the Dragons” begins, the war that will ultimately decide who will remain in power.
In true ‘GoT’ style, there were fallen soldiers, unexpected losses and some loose ends: what will be Aegon’s future?
As of now, there will be spoilers for “House of Dragon” season 2, episode 4 and the book “Fire and Blood” by GeorgeR.R. Swallow.
Did Aegon die in “House of the Dragon” season 2, episode 4?
In this episode, the action focuses on the battle of Rook’s Rest, a pivotal moment in “The Dance of Dragons”. However, the fight involves not only dragons, but also political intrigue and betrayal.
Aegon decides at the last minute and on his own initiative to join the battle, riding Sunfyre. However, this gesture will not bring him glory or help secure his place on the throne. Rhaenys and Meleys savagely attack him, and Aemond’s arrival seals his fate. The younger prince betrays his older brother with dragon fire, sending him to the ground.
The last time ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 Episode 4 shows him, he is inactive on the battlefield, leaving open the question of whether or not he survived the attack.
The answer could lie in George RR Martin’s books (although the series has made some plot changes). In “Fire and Blood”, Aegon survives the attack, but the dragon’s fire was so intense that his crown melted into his blood and the burns left him incapacitated for many years. So technically he’s still king, but weakened.
Did Aemond Want to Finish Aegon in “House of the Dragon” Season 2 Episode 4?
While it is clear that Aegon arrived at the Battle of Rook’s Rest by surprise, what is not entirely clear is what his younger brother’s intentions were when he attacked him: we know that the ‘Dracarys’ aimed to attack Rhaenys, but, not He made; also to see that the king will be hurt, or did he find an opportunity to kill him?
It must be remembered that Aegon has been treating Aemond badly since they were children and the younger of the brothers somewhat resents him and thinks he could make things better.
The truth is, we’ll have to wait until the next chapters of ‘House of the Dragon’ to see if Aemond’s intentions are revealed.
Tell us in the comments what your favorite moment was from ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 Episode 4.
