However, Bandy Hawkins’ pain is not over, and the final series implies a lot for the future of the characters.
After killing Max (Sadie Sink) to open the fourth portal, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) is finally bested by Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). The heroine scares off the monster and brings her friend back – or almost – thanks to her powers. Two days later, Eli and the group return to Hawkins in Argyle’s (Eduardo Franco) van. Many residents leave the city.
The drama on TV news will turn into “7.4 magnitude earthquake“. It is said that 22 people died in the disaster, and more than a hundred were taken to the hospital or are considered missing. Eddie (Joseph Quinn) is responsible for the deaths of the students at the school. The host talks about the events as a curse that will befall the place and explains that the murders opened the way to hell.
Hawkins’ best friends visit Max in the hospital. Vekna’s victim, blind and severely injured, is in a coma. When Eleven tries to find it in the Mind Lair, all she sees is nothingness. Max’s absence only confirms his brain death.
One thing is for sure: Billy’s sister will be in season 5, but will he be able to save her? One possible theory is that if Vekna is defeated or if the portal is closed upside down again, Max might be brought back to life.
The teenagers reunite with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbor) near the old sheriff’s cabin, but the joyful reunion is short-lived. Will (Noah Schnapp) still feels the presence. The sky darkens and snow-like particles escape from the clouds.
The whole gang comes out of the forest and heads for the hill. The view is chaotic. Cracks cover the area, emitting a large plume of black smoke and a red light overhead. Particles fall on plants and destroy everything in their path. Eleven sees it for herself: the flowers almost turn to ashes.
This drama involves new obstacles for the residents of Hawkins: the fields have been erased from the map, and therefore they cannot harvest crops for food. Their entire ecosystem is disappearing. One of the challenges of Season 5 will be explaining how the survivors will continue to live if Hawkins doesn’t become a ghost town.

The landscape resembles a war scene, and a terrible threat has arrived: a parallel world is entering the real world. Therefore, we can already imagine Demogordons and Dembats descending on the streets of the city, which is enough to turn the daily life of citizens into a real nightmare. What if it didn’t stop at Hawkins and invade other US states?
We’ll have to wait for Season 5, which shouldn’t arrive until 2024, for concrete answers. In a recent interview, the creators of the series announced that the writing of this last chapter will begin in the first week of August.
