Military Brigade Arrests Suspect After Victim’s Son Reports
The Santa Maria Military Brigade has arrested a fugitive suspected of breaking into a home, assaulting and sexually abusing a 61-year-old woman. The crime occurred in the early hours of Sunday, in the Nova Santa Marta neighborhood, and frightened residents with the attacker’s violence.
The victim was at home when the man broke into the property and began assaulting her. Witnesses said the fugitive was already known to the family.
The case was reported on Sunday evening by the woman’s son. He explained that the mother did not seek help immediately due to threats from the attacker and the inability to go to the police station in the early hours of the morning.
As soon as the complaint was received, the Military Brigade began the search and located the suspect, who was arrested and taken to the Emergency Police Station (DPPA) to verify the crimes of assault and rape.
The arrest of the attacker brought relief to the community, which had been on alert since the crime.
