Takeoff, landing and a successful mission for Top Gun Maverick. Thirty-six years after the Tony Scott film that launched his career, Tom Cruise returned to his most iconic role – and the coat that goes with it – to great success in theaters after walking the stage at the Cannes Film Festival last May.
It’s raining dollars at the box office (more than a billion dollars, a record for the actor), and in France, Maverick’s records have already surpassed Top Gun (and six parts of Mission: Impossible). On the critical side, audiences have awarded their top honors to Joseph Kosinski’s feature film, scoring more than 4.4/5 on AlloCiné, the best film of the post-COVID era.
