Allociné: Fans were eagerly awaiting the release of the final episode of Cassandra Season 5, which was not aired after the others in the spring of 2021 and which is finally coming to France 3. Do you know why he chose to save the channel later?
Gwendolyn Hemon : we do not know. We do not stop and neither do fiction. It was the decision of a French television show. We heard at the last minute and doubted it was because Eurovision was on the way. As an audience, it is probably the same, it would be a shame to split between these two.
We think it is and I think the programming went well. And then it does not matter. Cassandre is a collection, it is four units per year and you can view them in any order. We have since shot two more, which means there are three unreleased films ready for the public.
For those who have not seen this season’s finale, which was still set in Salto, what should we expect from this investigation, entitled “Le Secret d’Angèle”?
Gwendolyn Hemon : We can wait for Helena Noguera, who is divinely beautiful, friendly and a good actress. We can expect Amaury de Crayencour, Naima Rodrich, whom Alexander met on this shoot and who he fell in love with. This is a wonderful episode that unfolds in a difficult high school for kids. Clearly, there is murder, otherwise neither Cassandra nor Roche.
The rest will take place in the midst of sailing and beekeeping in the high mountains. But I will not tell you more.
Alexander Varga : In this episode we can also expect quite comedic scenes between Cassandra and Roche that continue to argue and chase after each other. This is what makes last season strong. As a result, there is some rapprochement and some rapprochement between these two characters. We had a lot of fun in those comedy scenes.
Gwendolyn Hemon: Cassander is what we call family thrillers. This is a program that should gather the most people and not be disgusting. It should not be too violent, too pointless, too sexy. Do you see what I mean? You should not be shocked. And at the same time, it should actually look.
There are intrigues that are very well done on Cassandra. The authors work very well as it is 90 minutes. This allows time to develop. We are often told “Ah, I did not think he was” or “I did not think he was.” That’s how it worked. At the same time, though, we often see repetitive characters and comedic scenes. It is nice and I think the audience will like it.
So, will there be a real rapprochement between Roche and Cassander?
Gwendolyn Hemon: Well, I will not tell you. There will be little rapprochement, but will there be a connection? . Obviously, there are some things that will be done. Or not in this matter.
Alexander Varga : Still playing cat and mouse. When he feels that he is a little distant, it is he who plays the tempter, but when he loses his sight, he returns to the charge. It is funny.
True, there is comedy and I guess there are even more smiles this season. It’s good. And it is true that with the development of 90 minutes, we can really confuse the issue of detective stories. Super interesting.
This also happens in real police investigations. I have a few friends who are in the police and investigating, we leave nothing to chance, we investigate all possible causes. So it actually causes you to go in one direction, crash, go back, start in the other direction.
We also always have very good guests so it’s all catering. However, if we had to choose a guest, we would immediately understand that we had to go to him. Here we manage to cover our tracks.
Gwendolyn Hemon: And above all, we have a real team with our recurring partners, Dominic Pinion, Jesse Ugolin, Emanuel Bujarol, Soren Prevost. We have wonderful actors.
You know, on TV, it’s always the same. Television in France is stigmatized because we are a clan country. We do not realize that we have much less time to make a movie than we do in the movies. You need to be able to be natural and sophisticated by crossing them, i.e. playing two episodes on the same day with 78000 different names and temporary mixes. It seems like not much, but it really does work. And the better, we know how to do it.
We are in school so it is not everyday as this is another way of working. Fortunately, we have good actors and good writers. We work a lot.
Alexander Varga : It is true that shooting two TV movies at the same time is a big job. You should not lose your way, it is a real gymnastics.
Was it more tiring to shoot Season 6 with a health crisis?
Gwendolyn Hemon: Tiring, do not overdo it. The mask should be done and tested once a week, not too tiring. Let’s say this is a little more of a restriction, which is a bit boring.
Alexander Vargas : Compared to last year, it has eased the season we are getting. We, as actors, do not use a mask while filming until the technicians wear it all day and sometimes in extreme heat. It is more difficult for them. So I think of all the technicians who have been with us for five or six years now and who are also doing an excellent job.
Emily Gavua-kan recently left the series. Did that hurt you?
Gwendolyn Hemon : I’m totally angry. I knew he was going to leave. In time he became a friend. She is also a demented actress and a wonderful woman. We had a lot in common and it was very difficult.
After that, I’m proud and happy with her, because now she has the lead role in Les Petits Murders d’Agatha Christie on France 2 and she’s a wonderful actress. But I cried a lot. I cried like a little girl and I fully accept it.
